Windows XP SP2 Note The first time that WebRestore is run, an ActiveX control is automatically downloaded. Users with Windows XP SP2 installed will not be able to download the control. The default security settings of Internet Explorer 6.x will prevent the program from downloading even if the user clicks on the prompt that it is okay. There are two alternative settings that can be used to prevent this problem. One solution is to include www.Norad.com as a "Trusted Site." The second solution is to change the default setting to "enable" for "Download unsigned ActiveX controls." We recommend the first alternative, as it will still restrict the downloading of unwanted ActiveX controls. Here are the steps to make these changes: 1. Load Internet Exporer and click on Tools/Internet Options... to bring up -
2. To add www.Norad.com as a trusted site, next click on the Security tab -
3. Next click on Trusted sites -
4. Click on the Sites ... button and add "www.norad.com" to the Web sites -
You are all done. If you would rather change the default setting to "enable" for "Download unsigned ActiveX controls" go to Tools/ Internet options ... (see step 1 above) and click on the Security tab. Next, click on the Custom Level button. Finally, click on Enable -
Just click on each OK button the the screens to complete the process. You will need to do one of these changes to the Internet Options whenever you run WebRestore for the first time on any PC.
